Resettlement Assistance Program – RAP

Wesley is one of the largest and earliest in the region offering a Resettlement Assistance Program (RAP) that provides services for Government Assisted Refugees for the first 4–6 weeks of arrival in Hamilton and Brantford.

Resettlement includes an initial stay in temporary housing and support with documentation, welcome and orientation to life in Canada, including healthcare and education. Our services include:

  • Securing temporary accommodations
  • Securing their first home in Canada and helping with the preparations so they can move including help with furniture and supplies
  • Information about life in Canada, including healthcare, government and community services, housing, public transportation, Canadian laws and norms,
  • Help with banking and budgeting
  • Support with learning about shopping
  • Assistance accessing healthcare

Referrals to this program are made through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
