Leave a Legacy of Hope with Wesley

Did you know you can support Wesley’s work with vulnerable individuals and families in our community by including a gift in your Will?

This kind of legacy—also called planned giving—is a growing trend in Canada. In fact, a recent study found that the number of Canadians donating to charity in their Wills has increased by 1.2 million! Gifts in 1.2 million Wills could generate up to $37 billion in future donations across the country.

These numbers make it clear that, even in times of growing global needs, people want to do something to give back and help those in need around them.

Now, this might feel like a daunting amount to achieve, but even just 1% of your estate left to Wesley can make a lasting impact in our community, without affecting your finances today.

Why consider a gift in your Will to Wesley?

  • You can contribute more than you thought possible—many donors are surprised how far even a small percentage can go.
  • You’ll help continue the good work you supported during your lifetime, like programs for children, youth, and families, housing support, refugee resettlement, employment programs, and more.
  • It’s a powerful way to be remembered, and inspire your loved ones with your values.
  • There are generous tax benefits, especially if you give through RRSPs or insurance policies (which we will talk more about in our next blog post!)

You might be thinking, “but what about my family? I need to make sure they are taken care of too.” Not to worry. We’re proud to be part of the Will Power Campaign, helping Canadians use their Wills to make meaningful change, while still supporting their families. It’s possible to do both, and it’s easier than you think:

  1. Decide what percentage of your estate you’d like to leave to family and to charity.
  2. Make sure you have Wesley’s legal name and registration number.
  3. Use a lawyer or online Will platform to formalize your wishes.
