Wesley Youth Housing was founded in 2007 and has helped hundreds of youth struggling to survive. It’s the only transitional housing program of its kind in the greater Hamilton area for youth between the ages of 16-21 who are homeless or at imminent risk of becoming homeless. Youth can live with us for up to two years while they finish school, find work, and learn the life skills needed to live independently.
The program occupies two floors of a CityHousing Hamilton- owned apartment building in downtown Hamilton where we can house and support up to 19 youth at a time.
Youth begin in the program with their own bedroom with a locking door and share a common space and kitchen. Then they graduate to the next level in the program where they practice the skills they have learned by living in their own bachelor apartment.
Before entering Wesley Youth Housing, our participants understand they will have responsibilities such as taking part in our life skills curriculum, finding a job, and/or participating in school. Wesley youth staff are there 24 hours a day to support and guide them.
Youth living at Wesley Youth Housing can participate in various social and recreational opportunities. We celebrate birthdays, have game nights, cooking classes, and outings to the movies and bowling. We ensure youth have access to mental health support.
