When a family is facing a housing crisis, staying together matters.
Thanks to the generous support of Appleby United Church, the Burlington Community Foundation, and the Halton Police Board Community Fund, Wesley’s Halton Housing Services has purchased 21 new bunk beds and new curtains for all 43 of our client rooms that will help us comfortably accommodate larger families who need emergency housing.

While a bunk bed may seem like a simple addition, its impact can be significant. The new beds allow Wesley to make better use of our private living quarters, giving more parents, children and siblings a safe space to stay together during a difficult and uncertain time. With the new curtains, families will have greater privacy and comfort during their stay.
Having private living quarters also gives families space to maintain some of their routines and support one another as they work toward greater stability. For children in particular, having their parents and siblings close by can provide comfort and familiarity when so much else is changing.
Being able to provide private space for larger families is an important part of what sets Wesley’s emergency housing apart. These new beds help ensure that family size is less likely to be a barrier when people in our community need a safe place to stay.
This investment is about much more than furniture. It is about dignity, stability and creating spaces that meet the needs of the families we serve.

Wesley’s Emergency Supportive Housing Program is the largest shelter providing temporary housing and dedicated support for women and families experiencing homelessness in Halton. Through personalized case management, clients receive support as they work toward securing safe, stable, long-term housing and greater independence.
