Two smiling children stand in front of a black curtain backdrop wearing white Wesley Case for Kids t-shirts that read “Walk, Run, Ride.” The shirts feature a colourful flower design, and both children are smiling at the camera.

Meet Zaara: Spreading Happiness, One Flower at a Time

For 10-year-old Zaara, art is more than just something she enjoys, it’s a way to share what makes her happiest.

This year, Zaara is the talented young artist behind the Case for Kids t-shirt design, inspired by the theme “What makes me happy.” And for her, the answer is simple: family, togetherness, and the little moments that bring joy.

Zaara has always loved to draw, especially flowers. Her winning design features bright, cheerful blooms, each one full of personality, with smiling faces that reflect her joyful perspective on the world. “I really like to draw,” she shared, and it shows in every detail of her artwork.

But the heart of Zaara’s design goes deeper than what’s on the page. When asked what makes her happy, she didn’t talk about material things, she talked about spending time with her family. Whether it’s sharing meals, playing games, or simply being together, those moments mean the most to her. “It makes me feel happy,” she said.

Zaara is in Grade 4 and has been part of Wesley programs since she was very young, starting in preschool and continuing through the after-school program. Over the years, she’s built friendships, explored her creativity, and grown into the thoughtful, expressive young person she is today.

She loves crafts, being outside, playing volleyball, and connecting with friends and family, and her artwork is a reflection of how she feels when she is able to do these things: happiness found in connection, creativity, and community.

The Case for Kids event helps make experiences like Zaara’s possible by supporting programs where children can learn, grow, and feel a true sense of belonging. And this year, thanks to Zaara, participants will wear a powerful reminder of what really matters: the people and moments that make us smile.

We can’t wait to see her design being worn by all of our Case for Kids participants, June 7th is going to be bright, joyful, and full of heart, just like Zaara!
