The Community Outreach Response for Youth (COR) program, is a Wesley-led, partnered initiative with John Howard Society of Hamilton, Burlington and Area.
COR Program supports priority populations identified in the City of Hamilton’s Building Safer Communities Plan. Focused on prevention and early intervention, the program serves youth (ages 12-25) and their families from priority groups, including women, Indigenous, Black, and newcomer/immigrant youth who are at risk of, affected by, or involved in violence and high-risk behavior.
Through a partnership between Wesley and John Howard, along with other youth-serving networks, COR staff engage in mobile, community-based outreach. They connect with youth in schools, neighborhoods, shelters, housing programs, and popular gathering spaces, providing support and referrals to strengthen protective factors and reduce risk.
The COR team also collaborates closely with Provincial Youth Outreach Workers – Hamilton, ensuring a coordinated approach to community support.
