Two of our programs locations are Ministry of Education licensed school age childcare program. Before and After School programs provide childcare for children ages four to twelve, whose parents are either working or in school. While in the program children are engaged in programming in a nurturing environment that promotes literacy, numeracy, prosocial skills, play based learning and most importantly fun. Although this is a fee-based program subsidy are available for eligible families.
Other programs we offer are intended to promote physical activity, healthy lifestyle choices and good nutrition. With childhood obesity on the increase, this program is designed to engage children in physical activities that are simple, fun and non-competitive. The program also provides opportunities to learn about eating the right foods. This is taught by engaging children in snack preparation, cooking and discussing the nutritional value of each of the foods. These programs are provided after school during the school year.
The WAN2B program focuses on inspiring students in Grades 6, 7 and 8 to set personal goals that will lead them to post-secondary school. The program is provided at two schools, two afternoons per week at each site. Visits to local post-secondary campuses and guest speakers are part of the fifteen-week schedule.
